Community created for online celebrities in Wuhan

Authorities in the city of Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, have established a separate community specifically tailored to online celebrities, reports people.cn.

Damara Village is expected to attract around 100 Chinese and foreign online celebrities. The community, covering an area of over 147 hectares, includes European-style architecture, including a chapel, a bell tower and a wine cellar.

Located in a flower-themed park in Caidian District in Wuhan, the area is known for its fields of flowers, rivers and lakes.

According to the report, the online celebrity town will officially open to visitors in October, which will also include several commercial pavilions.

It's believed authorities in Wuhan have set up the community to use the 'life-streamers' to promote the area and the city.

"As a new type of business in mass communication, life streaming is moving from a purely online industry to offline," said Qiang Yuexin, dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at Wuhan University.
